About Hulya
Growing up
with a Cypriot granny and family from a rich Mediterranean heritage gave Hulya
Erdal of Made by the Chef an early culinary entry into the ever growing world
of food and wine. "As a regular witness to such wonderfully prepared
dishes as halloumi and spinach filo pastry parcels and tiny morsels of lamb
mince known as Kofte regularly being fried at my aunty's house there was no
doubt I was destined for a life in the kitchen. I loved the aroma of all those
deliciously diverse dishes staining my clothes as I skipped home with my little
bag of goodies." Now all grown up and with three little mouths to feed of
her own, Hulya too fills her house with heavenly smells such as freshly baked
olive bread and cinnamon infused lamb stew. "There's nothing more
satisfying than your children running in to the kitchen to ask, "Mummy, what's
that lovely smell?"
With an equally diverse career spanning more than 15 years working in some avenue of the food industry, Hulya's learnt a thing or two! "Made by the Chef is a culmination of this knowledge and my ethos, that with a few simple instructions, some tasty ingredients and best of all, passion, "Anyone can cook!"
